A judge of the Chisinau City Court was arrested on March 22, being suspected of influence peddling. The criminal case was started by the prosecutor general based on information according to which the judge asked money from the manager of a company for influencing colleagues of his to pass a favorable judgment in a civil lawsuit, IPN reports.

According to the Prospector General’s Office, given the flagrant character of the offenses committed by the judge, he will be remanded in custody for 72 hours.

Concomitantly, the prosecutors started a criminal case against the company manager who gave bribe, over active corruption.

The investigation is under way and more details will be provided later.
