Journalists will return to Parliament’s assembly hall on a number of conditions, Igor Corman

Head of Parliament Igor Corman announced that the representatives of the media accredited to attend the plenary sittings of Parliament may return to the assembly hall if they do not hamper the MPs, IPN reports.

Igor Corman said such a decision may be taken if the Parliament’s Standing Bureau approves the compromise agreement reached by the Speaker and representatives of the media in a meeting on February 20.

“I had a meeting with managers of media outlets as we want to have constructive cooperation relations with the mass media. We discussed the constraints imposed on the media and the conditions that the journalists need to fulfill their duty to inform the people,” stated the Head of Parliament.

Igor Corman added that they identified a possible solution - the journalists will enter the assembly hall on condition that they do not obstruct the work of lawmakers. “We decided that today we will inform the members of the Standing Bureau and will propose amending the internal regulations so as to meet all the needs. I hope the solution will satisfy both of the sides,” he stated.

During the first days of the spring-summer session of Parliament, a number of representatives of the media expressed dissatisfaction with the conditions in which they have to work in the renovated hall of Parliament as they are not allowed to enter the assembly hall during sittings. Igor Corman promised to examine the issue and to propose solutions.
