The President of the European People’s Party (EPP) Joseph Daul welcomes the formation of the Political Alliance for a European Moldova and supports the assumption of governance by the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and the Democratic Party (Democratic Party). In a statement, Joseph Daul expresses his regret at the fact that not all the pro-European parties showed the same feeling of responsibility, IPN reports, quoting a communique of the PLDM.

“The Liberal Party’s decision to avoid fulfilling its duty allowed no other alternative than forming a minority government or holding early parliamentary elections, which would have plunged the country into a profound political crisis and would have condemned Moldova’s European future,” says the statement.

According to Joseph Daul, though this situation is not at all the most successful one, it is the duty of the newly-formed alliance to constitute a government of reforms that would meet the expectations of the people of Moldova and of the European Union.

“I call on the PLDM and PDM to immediately form a government capable of uniting in Parliament all the political forces that believe in Moldova’s European future and I want to contribute to this success of the country. There is no more time to be lost. Moldova must implement the reforms that will bring it closer to the European Union. Moldova can count on the support of Europe,” said Joseph Daul.

The President of the PPE noted that the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova, its leader Vlad Filat and acting Prime Minister Iurie Leanca can count on his support and on the support of the European People’s Party, which is the most influential European-level political party of the center-right.
