Joint PCRM – PLDM faction on local council in Ocnita
The representatives of the Communist Party (PCRM) and the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) elected to the local council of Sauca village of Ocnita district constituted a joint faction, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting local councilors and officials.
Secretary of the village council Sabina Popovich has told the Agency that the PCRM –PLDM faction was formed in the July 1 meeting of the council. She said that the six Communist councilors and the Liberal-Democrat councilor signed a document to constitute the faction.
Mayor of Sauca Iraida Jitari, who is currently also local councilor representing the PCRM, said the faction was set up following disagreements over decision making, at the suggestion of the Communist councilors and the Liberal-Democrat councilor.
“We do not face problems as we anyway have a majority of seats on the village council. But it was the wish of the councilors. If the representative of the PLDM agreed to cooperate with us, why should we not accept him? It was a joint initiative. We are ready to cooperate with anyone if things will improve,” said Iraida Jitari.
The Sauca local council consists of 11 councilors. Six of them represent the PCRM, three - the Democratic Party, one – the Liberal Party, and one – the PLDM.
Under the legislation, a faction on a municipal, town or village council must be constituted of at least three councilors.
Earlier, the leaders of the parties that formed the Alliance for European Integration said their parties will constitute local alliances with the coalition partners, not yet with the opposition party – the PCRM. The disagreements that appeared later prevented the leaders of the ruling alliance from signing a formal agreement to this effect.
