The Joint Control Commission (JCC) today is due to resume yesterday's meeting in a an effort to iron out the arguments over a recent incident at a customs checkpoint, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Moldova's representatives to the JCC, on July 2 the customs checkpoint in Dubasari town, which is subordinated to the Transnistrian authorities, illegally seized a car owned by “Posta Moldovei” (“Moldova's Mail”) which was delivering the mail and the pensions to the residents of the communities located on the left bank of the Nistru and placed under Moldova's jurisdiction. Although shortly after the incident, both the JCC co-chair on behalf of Moldova, Ion Solonenco, and the JCC co-chair on behalf of Transnistria, Oleg Beljakov, took measures to settle the dispute, their instructions haven't been executed, as Posta Moldovei hasn't received the vehicle and its content back. The proposal of the Moldovan delegation to have representatives of all the parties involved dispatched to the Dubasari checkpoint for a speedier resolution of the conflict was accepted by the OSCE and the Ukrainian delegations, but categorically rejected by the Transnistrian and the Russian ones. No consensus reached, the meeting was postponed until July 4 and will not close until the seized property is given back. At yesterday's meeting, the JCC members approved a decision mandating the visit of Antonio Maria Costa, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, to the Security Zone. At the sime time, the Transnistrian representatives failed to observe the JCC's decision, dissalowing the high official to make a trip to the Bender-based penitentarty 2809.
