The visit by the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry to Chisinau will bring an improvement to Moldova’s image in the world, said political commentators who took part in a program on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
Victor Juc, vice director of the Institute for Legal and Political Researches of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, said that John Kerry’s message will be similar to that sent earlier by U.S. Vice President Joe Biden. Moldova deserved this visit as it showed that it is a safe and reliable partner, while the U.S. official will send a message of encouragement for the internal democratic reforms and of support for Moldova’s European integration efforts.
Political analyst Petru Bogatu considers that John Kerry’s visit is historical, while Moldova is an absolute champion in the European area by the number of visits paid by the most powerful world leaders in the recent past. This visit is not accidental. “The United States needs Moldova to come closer to the EU for pragmatic reasons as the Americans want safety not only for the EU, because they are allies, but also at the borders with Romania,” he stated.
Doctor of Law Alexandru Cauia said that the Moldovan citizens should realize the importance and benefits of John Kerry’s visit, which shows that Moldova’s European course is supported. The U.S. official may promise Moldova financial assistance in order to show that the United States is not indifferent to this area of interference of the interests of Russia and the EU.
The plane of the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry landed in Chisinau close to 5pm. The official was met by Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman and U.S. Ambassador William Moser. From the airport, the delegation went to the State Residence on Nicolae Iorga St, where John Kerry will meet with Moldovan officials. Afterward, he will travel to
Cricova to meet with national wine producers.
