Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn reiterated the interest and readiness of the European Union to continue the sustained cooperation with the Republic of Moldova and to expand this to new areas, based on the progress made in doing the reforms stipulated in the EU-Moldova Association Agreement, IPN reports.
The European official had a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova Andrei Galbur on the sidelines of an informal meeting of foreign affairs ministers of the Eastern Partnership in Erevan.
In a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Johannes Hahn appreciated the measures taken by the Moldovan authorities to implement the European reform agenda, the decision of the IMF Board to approve an agreement with Moldova being a conclusive indicator. Thus, the EU will start the procedure for disbursing the financial assistance planned for this year.
The Commissioner welcomed Moldova’s commitment to follow the path of European integration, reiterating the EU’s readiness to continue to cooperate with the Republic of Moldova, notwithstanding the result of the presidential elections.
