EU Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn congratulated Prime Minister Pavel Filip on the implementation of 2/3 of the measures stipulated in the priority reform action roadmap and encouraged the Moldovan authorities to continue to act with determination so as to do reforms and maintain a dialogue with civil society. On June 16, Pavel Filip had a telephone conversation with the European official, IPN reports.
According to the Government’s press office, speaking about the latest developments in implementing the roadmap, Pavel Filip said that over 63% of the measures provided in this were carried out. “We made considerable progress in implementing the roadmap measures concerning the justice sector reform, development of an attractive business climate, strengthening of the banking systems and energy sector. The bill on integrity is to be passed by Parliament next week. By the end of July, we hope to fully carry out all the measures stipulated in the roadmap,” he stated.
The Premier also spoke about the dialogue with the International Monetary Fund and the next IMF mission that is expected to come to Chisinau for negotiating a new cooperation program on July 5-15. Pavel Filip informed about the meeting that he had with the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in Bishkek on June 7, where he underlined the country’s interest in having good relations with Russia, but with respect for Moldova’s European road.
The European Commissioner accepted the Premier’s invitation to pay a visit to Moldova by the end of July, which the sides consider will be a good occasion for taking stock of the achieved results and for setting the priorities in the cooperation between Moldova and the EU for the next stage.
