“Transnistria's future lies inside Moldova and within the community of Europe. The people of Moldova deserve an end to a dispute that has divided this great country for far too long”, declared US Vice President Joe Biden during his public speech at the Opera Square in Chisinau on Friday, March 11, Info-Prim Neo reports. In his speech, the American vice president stated that formal negotiations with a real agenda should resume as soon as possible. “America has supported and will continue to support a settlement that preserves sovereignty and territorial integrity within Moldova's internationally recognized borders”. Joe Biden, the highest-ranking U.S. official to ever visit Moldova, came to Chisinau to show support for the current government's democratic reform, meeting with with Prime Minister Vlad Filat and acting President Marian Lupu. Joe Biden was invited to Chisinau by PM Vlad Filat during the latter's visit to Washington in January 2010.
