Joe Biden has arrived in Chisinau

US Vice President Joe Biden has landed at Chisinau Airport at 11:20 AM, accompanied by his wife, Jill Biden and one of their granddaughters, for a visit at the invitation of Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat First Joe Biden is expected to meet with his inviter, PM Vlad Filat, after which he will deliver a public speech in the square outside the National Opera in Chisinau. Afterward, the American vice president will hold a meeting with Speaker, and concurrently acting President, Marian Lupu. Joe Biden's visit to Chisinau will not last more than 6 hours, after which he is expected to leave the country. Moldova is the final destination of Biden's European tour which also included Finland and Russia. At his previous stop in Moscow Joe Biden told reporters he was proud of being the first US vice president to visit Moldova, a country which he called a “success story” of democracy, referring to last year's elections. Earlier, authorities in Moldova described Joe Biden's visit as “historic” and “politically symbolic”, as some political commentators called it “an incontestable success of the Moldovan diplomacy”.
