The jobless members of families that receive unemployment compensation will have to do community service. The Government approved relevant amendments to the Law on Social Welfare, submitted by a group of MPs, IPN reports.
Community service will be done for at most 72 hours a month without exceeding the normal working hours and by respecting the general work hygiene and security norms.
The informative note accompanying the bill says the legislative initiative was formulated at the suggestion of the local public authorities of the first and second levels, which consider that they must become involved in the implementation of the Law on Social Welfare. The community service will allow the people out of work to overcome social exclusion, to play an active role in the community life and to easier find a permanent job over the six months during which they benefit from social welfare.
Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Sergiu Sainciuc proposed that the activities to organize and ensure community service should be regulated by a normative document that will be later approved by the Government.
