A Jewish History Museum will be opened on Eugen Doga St in Chisinau. In a response to an inquiry made by IPN Agency, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research says the concept was already worked out. The museum will have a permanent exhibition, thematic exhibitions, an educational center and a library.
The thematic exhibitions will be ambulatory and could be mounted elsewhere too. The museum will be located at 4 Eugen Doga St on an area of 260.7 square meters. The area is managed by the municipal authorities and now houses the library “Iţic Mangher”.
The Ministry asked to transfer the given area under its management. A relevant written request was presented to the Section for the Organization and Coordination of the Activity of the Chisinau Municipal Council. This is to be examined and approved by the commission on budget, economy, finance, local public heritage, agriculture and suburban problems.
It its response, the Ministry noted the library “Iţic Mangher” owns a series of things, including rare books, which, based on temporary exchanges of goods, could harmoniously supplement the museum’s exhibition, while the education projects implemented by the library would contribute to promoting the new museum.
The Jewish History Museum is opened in a move to keep the memory of the Holocaust, to promote tolerance and peace and to combat antisemitism and intolerance.
The museum inauguration date will be announced when all the technical problems are solved.
