JCC asks civilians to benevolently surrender weapons and ammunitions kept since military conflict

The Joint Control Commission (JCC) is to finally work out an appeal to civilians to surrender the weapons and ammunitions illegally kept since the military conflict, at one of its future sittings. Such a draft appeal was accepted at the JCC sitting of May 7, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Moldovan co-chairman in the Peace-Keeping Commission, Ion Solonenco, they considered the necessity to develop a mechanism to use the funds provided by the OSCE mission, in order to motivate civilians to surrender the armament benevolently. The need to resume the military applications of the Joint Peace-Keeping Forces, stopped in 2004, was another important topic proposed for discussion within the JCC by the Transnistrian delegation. They decided that the Military Commandment of the Peace-Keeping Forces to develop proposals to unfold joint military applications normally, within two weeks, the top officer has said. The Transnistrian side also proposed on May 7 that the JCC members periodically checked up the peace-keeping posts. The Joint Military Commandment was cahrged to develop, within two weeks, proposals in this regard, reads a communique issued by the Moldovan Defense Ministry. They also approved of two reports compiled by the Joint Military Commandment regarding the situation in the Securioty Zone during the period April 23 to May 6.
