Well-known jazz singers from all over the country will give a series of concerts in Chisinau and Tiraspol. The Faces of Friends - Jazz Edition project aims to promote this type of music in Moldova. According to the organizers, the concerts will be held once a month for eight months. In Chisinau they will take place on the last Monday of every month, while in Tiraspol on the last Sunday of every month. The price of the ticket will vary between 50 and 150 lei. There will be also available season tickets for the whole session.
In a news conference at IPN, producer and author of the project Sergey Orlov said that every concert will be unique because there will be invited artists from different countries. The concerts will be given at the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevich”. The first concert will involve jazz stars from Ukraine.
Famous guitarist Enver Ismailov, who plays with all the ten fingers on the strings, will be the special invitee. “Every foreign artist will invite by a jazz singer from Moldova,” said Sergey Orlov. The next two concerts will involve jazz artists from Romania and the United States. Talks with other countries are being conducted.
According to producer Corneliu Durnescu, the event will be staged in Moldova for the first time, but will be continued the next years. The second series of concerts will be launched next autumn.
National Philharmonic director Svetlana Bivol said the idea of providing season tickets is very good as the people will be able to plan their time and to see all the performances. The concert hall is special and is the most suitable for such events. It has 70 places and the stage is close to the spectators.
Jazz singer Alex Calancea considers that such an event is very necessary for the Moldovan culture. “I hope we will promote this type of music that is close to disappearing. Fewer people want to sing jazz,” he stated, adding that jazz is the highest level that an artist can reach.
The concerts start on October 28 and end next May.
