Prime Minister Ion Chicu invited the Japanese companies to invest in the IT sector of the Republic of Moldova, presenting the advantages of developing IT businesses in Moldova. He mentioned the macro-economic stability, fiscal and regulatory predictability, stability of the budgetary and financial-banking systems, free trade agreements and accelerated digitization that became a reality in the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.
The advantages of developing IT businesses were presented in a Japan-Moldova business webinar that was initiated by the Japane External Trade Organization and the Organization for the Development of the SME Sector (ODIMM). The event involved Japan’s Ambassador to Moldova Katayama Yoshihiro, executive vice director of JETRO Tokyo Hoshino Yoshitaka and representatives of responsible state institutions.
Premier Chicu appreciated the bilateral Moldovan-Japanese relations of friendship and cooperation that have been constantly developed in different areas. He welcomed the presence in Moldova of such large companies with Japanese capital as “Fujikura”, “Sumitomo Electric” and “Metal Products”, which bring important investments to the country’s economy, creating new jobs and generating benefits for economic growth in Moldova. According to him, these investments are a proof of the confidence in the national economy’s long-term capacities and a good example for other Japanese investors.
The IT industry is one of the economy’s sectors with the most dynamic growth and development, accounting for 7% of the national GDP. During the last three years, the exports of IT services rose constantly by 40-50% a year owing to the state support policies.
Premier Chicu said the Republic of Moldova has all the preconditions for ensuring the continuous growth of the IT industry and BPO (business process outsourcing) sector, including by its IT industry support models, such as “Moldova IT Park”, which was recognized internationally as one of the most successful models for stimulating the IT sector. The park offers concessions to the 620 resident companies, including a special taxation regime.
The webinar is held on November 25-27 and is designed to inform the business community of Japan about the investment and cooperation opportunities in Moldova’s IT & BPO sectors.
