Japanese companies investigate business environment in Moldova
Six Japanese companies operating in construction, metallurgy, infrastructure, car making, textile industry and energy sector came to Moldova to study the business environment and investment opportunities, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Chamber of Trade and Industry of Moldova.
“Though we have a small domestic market, the fact that Moldova is situated near the EU and the advantages enjoyed within the Commonwealth of Independent States represent conclusive arguments for the foreign investors,” the Chamber’s vice chairman Vladimir Didilica said in a meeting with members of the Association of Japanese Businessmen in Kiev.
Vladimir Didilica invited the businessmen to the Investment Week in Moldova that will take place between June 22 and 25 so as to better familiarize themselves with the national business environment.
For his part, the head of the Association of Japanese Businessmen in Kiev Yuji Otsuki, manager general of Mitsubishi Corporation Office in Kiev, said the association includes about 20 Japanese companies that work in the most important sectors of the Ukrainian economy and they would like to extend their operations into Moldova.
Trade between Moldova and Japan in the first four months of this year totaled about US$9 million, a decrease of 10% compared with the corresponding period last year.
