Starting with 1 January 2018, Moldovan businesspersons, artists, athletes and academics will undergo a simpler application process for short-term (90 days) visas to Japan. Citizen of Moldova going to Japan on tourism won’t need a letter of guarantee anymore.
In an answer to IPN’s inquiry, Moldovan Ambassador to Japan Vasile Bumacov said that the updated visa requirements mark the anniversary of 25 years of diplomatic relations between Moldova and Japan, and will contribute to experience exchange. The simplified procedure can be read on the Japanese Ministry of External Affairs website.
Visa applications should be submitted to the Japanese Embassy in Moldova. The visas are issued free of charge, and file assessment periods are announced by the consulate. Citizens planning to visit Japan should get acquainted with the laws of this country.
