Japan supports the integration of Moldova into the European Union. In a meeting with Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, Japan’s Ambassador to Moldova with residence in Kiev Toichi Sakata said the entry into the EU is beneficial to the county’s economy, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Government, the Japanese diplomat pledged to encourage the Japanese business groups in Kiev to come to Moldova with investment projects so as to develop commercial and economic ties. He said there is interest in establishing cooperation relations with the Regional Organization for Democracy and Economic Development GUAM of which Moldova forms part.
Prime Minister Iurie Leanca thanked the Government of Japan for the substantial technical and financial assistance provided to Moldova over the last few years. He approved of the Japanese Government’s intention to finance two projects of €67 million for improving medical services and the use of energy from biomass.
The Premier expressed his conviction that the political dialogue between the two countries will intensify by visits at the level of heads of Government and by opening an embassy of Moldova in Tokyo.
