Japan offers Moldova US$2m for purchasing medical equipment

Japan will provide a grant to Moldova for buying medical equipment. The equipment will be purchased based on an agreement signed in Chisinau by Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and Japan’s Ambassador to Moldova Toichi Sakata.

Under the agreement, Moldova will be offered US$2.12 million for outfitting the Oncology Hospital and the Balti and Cahul District Hospitalw with 20 modern diagnostic medical devices.

The Premier thanked the Government of Japan for the continuous support provided to Moldova, mentioning the photovoltaic energy system that was launched with the support of a Japanese project at the Oncology Institute.

Toichi Sakata said that his country will continue to assist Moldova in implementing reforms. He welcomed the abolition of the visa requirements for the Moldovans travelling to the Schengen Area starting with April 28, 2014.
