The Republic of Moldova will receive €1.9 million in grant funding from Japan. Moldova’s Cabinet approved the draft decision to initiate negotiations between the Republic of Moldova and Japan to sign the grant agreement for implementing the Provision of Farmers with Fertilizers Project, IPN reports.
The agreement comes to reduce the burden borne by small and medium-sized farmers affected by the war in Ukraine by offering financial support to purchase fertilizers.
The project will be implemented by the Agency for the Development and Modernization of Agriculture which, in concert with the Japanese side, will design the operational manual and the procedures concerning the period of the installment purchase agreement, the process of distributing fertilizers and the costs that will be incurred by the final beneficiaries. The grant will be offered by March 31, 2024.
