The days of January 2 and May 8, 2023 will be considered nonworking days. However, January 28 and May 13, which are Saturdays, will be working days instead, IPN reports, quoting a Government decision.
According to Corina Ajder, secretary of state of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, such a decision was taken because many of the bank holidays stipulated in the Labor Code fall on nonworking weekend days in the 2022-2023 winter season.
The public authorities and institutions are obliged to ensure the efficient work of the subordinate units on the day considered working day. The decision is recommendatory in character for the enterprises operating in the real sector of the national economy.
Under the Labor Code, the Government can transfer working or nonworking days to other days in order to enable the salary earners to optimally use the time on nonworking days and bank holidays.
