The protests set to take place on January 13 in connection with the nomination of the candidate for Prime Minister can degenerate and the police should be ready to cope. The issue was developed into the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
Law expert Vitalie Gamurari said the protests could get out of control. “I wonder if the protest organizers are sure that the law will not be broken. Everything depends on the Ministry of the Interior. Over the last few years, the police built a good image as regards the maintaining of public order during protests. We hope they will cope this time too,” he stated.
Former Liberal-Democratic MP Veaceslav Ionita also said the protests could be marked by violence. “The protests will most probably be hot, but intuition tells me that a candidate for premiership will be nominated. I trust the police force,” he noted.
Mihai Petrache, chairman of the Centrist Union of Moldova, considers the protests will not deteriorate into riots. “Though they will form part of different camps, the protesters will be people from the same communities who know each other. I don’t think they will clash between them,” he stated.
