James Pettit: Moldova deserves a Government that contributes to improving people’s lives

The people in the Republic of Moldova deserve a better life and a government that functions in a way that contributes to improving the lives of the people here, in the country. Moldova has an enormous potential and we should only develop, work together to build a prosperous, democratic country that functions well, outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Moldova James Pettit stated in a farewell speech. The diplomat voiced hope that in the near future the Republic of Moldova will become a member of the European Union, IPN reports.

James Pettit said that while in the Republic of Moldova he had interesting and important experiences. He studied the Romanian language in Washington for five months before coming to Moldova. “Romanian is a beautiful language. I continued to study the Romanian language in the Republic of Moldova. For me, it was an important accomplishment for showing my respect for the Moldovan people,” he stated.

James Pettit noted he was impressed by the fact that the people in the Republic of Moldova keep the culture and traditions in a slightly different way than in other countries. The people here have a special passion for history, culture, music, poetry and language.

“Such traditional dishes like rolled cabbage, pies and mamaliga… Everything is delicious. And the wine is special too. It is a treasure for the country. I think we will import more wine from the Republic of Moldova into the United States in the future,” stated the ambassador, adding his general impression about the Republic of Moldova is very positive.
