IWCM holds traditional winter charity bazaar

The International Women’s Club of Moldova is holding today, December 5, the 13th Winter Bazaar at the Moldexpo Center. Traditionally all proceeds are for charity. The funds raised by the about 40 participating organizations, including embassies and NGOs, as well as individuals, will go to the residential school in Razalai village of Straseni district and the Children's Rehabilitation Center in Tarnova village of Donduseni district, Info-Prim Neo reports. Elena Erosenco, the coordinator of the bazaar, says the collected money will be used to buy mattresses for the children in the Razlai residential school, a shelter-orphanage caring for children with physical and mental disabilities, like the Down's syndrome. For the second recipient school, the proceeds will be used to repair the building, which is 47 years old. Also, the money will be spent on books, bedding, dishware, and other basic goods. “That institution is in a very deplorable state, the children live in poor conditions. It is in dire need of renovation”, says Elena Erosenco. Visitors can buy confections, yuletide souvenirs, clothes, cosmetics, toys and many other things, and thus contribute to a noble cause. The bazaar's visitors will be offered an artistic program, featuring Moldovan bands and singers, a show with masks, lotteries, and of course, the opportunity to talk and pose with Santa Clause. The International Women’s Club of Moldova was started in April 1997. Initially, IWCM was for expatriates to provide them opportunities for charitable work and insights into the life and culture of Moldova. Now the club is open to all women. During 12 years, the Club collected about US$130,000 that was donated to schools and hospitals.
