Ivan Emelianov qualifies for Rio Olympics

Ivan Emelianov will compete in the Olympic Games for the fourth time. The 38-year-old athlete qualified for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics after scoring the necessary number of points in the national competition held in Chisinau, IPN reports.

Emelianov won the first place in discus throw with the result of 20.53 meters. He intends to confirm this result at the Cup of Romania that will take place in Bacau on January 23. The athlete has taken part in the Sydney, Athens and Beijing Olympics.

Ivan Emelianov is the sixth athlete who earned qualification for the Rio Olympic Games, alongside Roman Prodius, Lilia Fisikovich, Sergei Marghiev, Zalina Marghiev, and Marina Nikishenko.
