Former prosecutor of Chisinau municipality Ivan Diacov said the prosecutors who dealt with the case concerning the bank fraud will be replaced. This resonant case will be handled by people from outside the Prosecutor’s Office, which is by former prosecutors. Discussions are now held with former prospectors and solutions to reintegrate them into the system are being looked for, IPN reports.
Ivan Diacov refused to reveal the names of persons who could deal with the stealing of bank funds, but said that these are honest and tested former employees of the Prosecutor’s Office.
He expressed his conviction that attempts will be made to exert political influence on Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo, but this will reject them. He said he knows very well Stoianoglo, noting society has big expectations of the new prosecutor general, but disappointment in some of his actions would not be fully avoided.
Parliament Deputy Speaker Alexandru Slusari, MP of the ACUM bloc, said the real developments at the Prosecutor General’s Office will become known next week. It is important to follow some of the resonant cases that were started during the past few months, including those concerning the financing of the Party of Socialists, the usurpation of state power, the National Arena, the National Road Transport Agency, the expulsion of Turkish teachers. “I want to see what happens next in these cases,” stated Alexandru Slusari.
Political commentator Victor Ciobanu said the impression is that things at the PGO started to move, but he fears this impression could be false. “I don’t believe these prosecutors who worked in the system in the period and changed swiftly when the power was replaced and started very quickly to shape this impression that something happens,” he opined.
