The digitalization of services and de-bureaucratization of processes are among the Government’s priorities for 2023, said Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalziation Iurie Țurcanu. The official assured that the electronic medical prescription will become available in Moldova too so as to exclude the paper prescription and to facilitate the finding of medicines at national drugstores. Iurie Țurcanu said the electronic medical prescription is used in European states and Moldova should align itself to the EU standards, IPN reports.
The official noted the e-medial prescription forms part of the Government’s plan to digitize the health system. The authorities also aim to digitize the importation, storage and distribution of medicines to the population.
”The electronic prescription enables the patient to go to any drugstore and collect the medicines. Moreover, the digital information will enable to track the necessary medicines so that the patient will not need to make too many trips. The service is primarily intended for patients who are older and need special attention. In correlation with the digital prescription, there is a pharmaceuticals track and trace system. The importation of medicines and their sale should be correlated so that we know if we have enough antibiotics or antivirals. The size of medicine supplies will be known and counterfeit production will be combated. The use of expired medicines will also be combated,” Iurie Țurcanu stated in the program “Public Space” on Radio Moldova.
The official noted that training specialists in cybersecurity is the Government’s priority in 2023. An Academy of Cybersecurity will be created in Moldova to cope with cyber-attacks.
“We are permanently exposed to threats, hybrids attacks, including cybernetic ones, when attempts are made to compromise different information systems. For the purpose, we need specialists. There are not many specialists in cybersecurity in the Republic of Moldova. Both the private sector and the public sectors need such specialists. Therefore, we established a partnership with the Technical University and agreed to implement the project “Technologies of the Future” that is financed by the U.S. Agency for International Development. We decided to create this center of excellence that will be called the Academy of Cybersecurity. This center will train specialists based on modern curricula that meet the market needs and the faced challenges,” stated the Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalization.
The Academy of Cybersecurity will be part of the Moldova Technical University and will be about 1,000 square meters in area. Its spaces will include technologized halls, training halls, server rooms for cyber threat modeling, thematic halls and an events hall with a seating capacity of over 400.
