Romania is the man strategic and commercial partner of Moldova and also the country that will help us get rid of the dependence on Russian gas, Moldova’s ex-ambassador to Romania Iurie Renita said in the talk show “Place for dialogue” on Radio Moldova station, IPN reports.
“I hope that 2017 we meet us with reduced gas prices. A feasibility study showed €150 million more is needed for extending the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline up to Chisinau. The EU will help us build this pipeline and Moldova will no longer be dependent on Russian gas. Our electric power lines are to be interconnected with the Romanian ones,” stated Renita.
The former ambassador said the Moldovan-Romanian relations are Euro-compliant. “What happened until now in the Moldovan-Romanian relations showed that Romania is our main partner. Moldova obtained great results, like the abolition of the visa regime and the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU and Romania was our main supporter in these processes,” he stated.
Iurie Renita considers that Chisinau in the recent period didn’t have a clear message concerning the European integration and the relations with Bucharest owing to the uncertain policy. “We must admit that the message of the official Chisinau was unclear. But the new government will liquidate this shortcoming. It is yet definite that Romania is ready to help Moldova, including on the path of European integration,” he said.
