The former vice director of the Center for Combating Trafficking in Persons Iurie Podarilov was appointed head of the General Police Inspectorate for a five-year term. A draft decision to this effect was adopted in the September 8 meeting of the Cabinet, IPN reports.
Minister of the Interior Ana Revenco said that Iurie Podarilov has over 20 years’ experience of work as part of the Ministry’s subdivisions. “He started work as a simple investigator and moved up in his career up to manager of international investigation teams. Mister Podarilov knows very well all the internal functioning mechanisms of the General Police Inspectorate. He has worked as an expert for transboundary projects,” stated the minister.
The Cabinet also approved a draft presidential decree on the dismissal of Igor Gorgan from the post of head of the General Staff of the National Army, commander of the National Army. The document is to be submitted to the presidential administration.
