Iurie Perevoznic quits as deputy prosecutor general

Suspended deputy prosecutor general Iurie Perevoznic tendered his resignation. He argued that this is the only solution as he was practically detached from what’s happening in the institution. Iurie Perevoznic said he does not agree with the recent developments, IPN reports.

Commenting on the arrest of another suspended deputy prosecutor general Ruslan Popov, Iurie Perevoznic said that we are witnessing a useless demonstration of force.  “I do not see any reasons for his arrest. He wasn’t hiding (as he would have done it long ago as he could do it). It is not a case of catching someone red-handed, not to mention the establishment of identity,” stated Iurie Perevoznic.

According to him, they also exaggerate in relation to the suspended Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo. “As a former colleague, I ask you, the prosecutors who handle these cases, to stop. Analyze again the law before acting. You should realize that this bravado will cost us a lot. We will all pay, including those who believe that they are now witnessing a free show. You should not have any doubt that the payment (ticket to the show) will be discouraging,” said Iurie Perevoznic.

He noted that he submitted his resignation on October 7 and this was already accepted.
