Iurie Leanca will be Lib-Dems’ candidate for PM

Iurie Leanca will be the Liberal Democratic Party’s candidate for premiership after the November 30 parliamentary elections, the party’s leader Vlad Filat said in an event held to officially start the election campaign on October 12, IPN reports.

“I want to clearly say it today so that those who cannot sleep because they care for us also hear me: Iurie Leanca will be the PLDM’s candidate for the post of Prime Minister after the November 30 elections,” stated Vlad Filat, congratulating his party colleague on his good performance as Premier.

“I joined the PLDM because I saw that this team has the capacity to change Moldova. I became head of the Moldovan diplomatic service because I wanted to join in the efforts to build our country’s European future. I accepted the post of Prime Minister because I wanted to further follow the path to changes for our country and I’m ready to continue work as Prime Minister so that the European future becomes a reality.

“When I speak about the European future of Moldova, you know that I do it not abstractly. I do it as a man who dedicated himself fully to achieving this goal, transposing his conviction to his professional activity. In these five years, we day by day and step by step convinced the European capitals that Moldova deserves a European perspective,” stated Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, referring to the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU, saying it was the culmination of his efforts and the efforts of his party colleagues.

Vlad Filat and Iurie Leanca top the PLDM’s list of candidates for the November 30 legislative elections. In the ballots, the Liberal Democratic Party will be under No. 4.
