The first congress of the European People’s Party (PPEM), which will be a constitution one, will be held until  autumn, the party’s leader Iurie Leanca announced in the talk show “Pahomi” on Realitatea TV channel, IPN reports.

“The launching period lasted longer because of the local elections. We now work on the formation of the local organizations, especially the district ones. We didn’t manage to do this before the elections. We started work immediately after the runoff,” said the former Premier.

Iurie Leanca stated that they expect they will encounter problems with the party’s registration with the Ministry of Justice. “The disagreements with the Ministry of Justice haven’t been yet overcome. Somebody warned me that the senior chief ordered causing problems to us. I do not refer to ministers or the head of state,” he said.

He noted that he already discussed the formation of a majority coalition in the Chisinau Municipal Council with Dorin Chrtoaca. “We didn’t discuss posts. But we will definitely discuss the objectives and mechanisms of managing the capital city,” added the leader of the PPEM.

Iurie Leanca expressed his regret at the difficult situation created in Moldova. “It is regretful because what was built during five years was destroyed during half a year. We are again at a crossroads,” he stated.

Asked why he signed the letter of guarantee for the National Bank’s loan to Banca de Economii, Iurie Leanca said he did it after he convinced himself that this is the only way out. “Those from the National Bank insisted the most. They convinced me that otherwise the whole Moldovan banking system will collapse. Afterward I consulted experts, including from abroad, who assured me that this is the only correct solution. I regret that the investigation by Kroll wasn’t completed. Four months have passed and the tender contest to choose the company that will continue the investigations wasn’t yet announced. They probably delay things on purpose so that the people forget about this case,” he stated.
