Iurie Leanca urges Ukrainian authorities to avoid violence

Moldova’s Prime Minister Iurie Leanca expressed his profound concern about the situation in Ukraine and called on the authorities of the neighboring country and on the people protesting there to make effort to avoid using violence, IPN reports.

“I was deeply saddened by news of casualties. I offer my sincere condolences to the relatives of those who died and wish a quick recovery to those who were injured. I strongly advise holding a dialoged so as to overcome the present crisis. Violence is never a solution,” said the Premier.

The press in Ukraine reported that 29 persons died and hundreds were hurt in the violent clashes between the protesters and the police that erupted on February 18. The Ukrainian opposition seeks early elections and the restoration of the Constitution of 2004.
