Iurie Leanca to meet with Yevgeny Shevchuk by end-September

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and the Transnistrian leader Yevgeny Shevchuk will have a bilateral meeting by the end of this month. The two chief negotiators to the Transnistrian conflict, Eugen Carpov on behalf of Chisinau and Nina Stansky on behalf of Tiraspol, on September 16 discussed the agenda of the meeting of the two officials, IPN reports.

After the discussions with Eugen Carpov held at the head office of the OSCE Mission in Chisinau, Nina Shtanski told the journalists that Iurie Leanca and Yevgeny Shevchuk will have a bilateral meeting in Tiraspol. It will involve no other participants in the Transitional statement. We plan to set the date of the meeting tomorrow already. We discussed three acute problems – the circulation of motor vehicles, the railway transport and the criminal cases started against persons holding responsible posts in Chisinau and Tiraspol,” said the Transnistrian negotiator.

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Carpov said they continued the discussions started last week. “We considered the subjects that may be discussed and signed a document on the necessity of stepping up work on the criminal cases started against persons from both banks of the Nistru. During a month, the relevant working groups will inventory these cases existing in Chisinau and Tiraspol,” he stated.

The next round of Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format will take place in Brussels on October 3. Iurie Leanca and Yevgeny Shevchuk are to meet by this date.
