Prime Minister Iurie Leanca proposed his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev to sign agreements on the legalization of the migration and work of Moldovans in Russia. According to the Moldovan official, in a recent telephone discussion Dmitry Medvedev promised he will ask the Federal Migration Service to react to Chisinau’s proposals, IPN reports.

“The key objective is to offer our citizens work at home. We work in this respect and hope to find more possibilities to prevent their leaving. But the realities are now as they are,” Iurie Leanca said in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1.

As to the wine exports, the officials agreed they will be resumed when the technical problems are removed. “We agreed to extend the contract for the supply of natural gas for next year,” said the Premier. Asked about the facilities that will be privatized and the privatization method, Leanca said a foreign consultant will be invited to help assess the assets and ensure transparency. According to him, the money earned from privatization will be invested in social projects.

As regards the so-called ‘velvet revolution’ launched by the Communist Party, Iurie Leanca said it would be opportune for the Communists to compete with projects that would ensure better living conditions, not with groundless challenges. Instead of welcoming Russia’s embargo on the imports of Moldovan wine, they should remember that the people went through a similar situation during the Communist rule.

Asked about the accusations made by the People’s Movement “Antimafie” in a news conference at IPN, according to which Iurie Leanca covers corruption schemes, the Premier said the accusations are unfounded. He added a team of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration is investigating the case and will present a report on the findings.
