Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin had a second meeting with Premier Vlad Filat in order to inform him about the issues discussed in Tiraspol. This visit was agreed beforehand, but the press wasn’t informed about it because the meeting didn’t form part of the agenda of the Russian official, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iurie Leanca said in the Pro TV program “In Profunzime”, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The second meeting of Vlad Filat and Dmitry Rogozin was arranged beforehand. It was a correctitude gesture to inform the Premier about the topics discussed in Tiraspol. This return to Chisinau is an expression of the fact that Moscow and Rogozin place the relations with Transnistria in the Moldova –Russia bilateral context,” said the minister. As to the opening of a Russian consulate in Tiraspol, Iurie Leanca said that it is a rather old item on the bilateral agenda. According to him, such a consulate can be opened only when certain conditions are met and when the conflict is resolved. The minister also said that he and his colleagues are in favor of opening a consulate from technical viewpoint, if the conditions are met. But they haven’t been met yet. Everything depends on how things develop. An analysis will be made afterward so as to take a decision. “This subject has a symbolic load, besides the practical one. No concessions will be made, as some suggested,” stated Iurie Leanca. Dmitry Rogozin paid a visit to Chisinau on November 16. He agreed with the Moldovan authorities to open a Russian consulate in Balti. As to the opening of a consulate in Tiraspol, it was decided that the discussions on the issue will be continued, including during the Moldovan-Russian consultations set for November 22. After making a visit to Tiraspol, Rogozin met again with Vlad Filat. This fact was confirmed by the Premier’s consultant.
