Iurie Leanca salutes presentation of report on visa liberalization

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca welcomes the proposal to abolish the visa regime for Moldovans that is contained in the report rendered to the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs of the European Parliament, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the Government.

According to Iurie Leanca, the discussions within the European Parliament show again the support enjoyed by Moldova from the European institutions.

The visa liberalization issue caught the MEPs’ attention. They welcomed the reforms done in Moldova and the implementation of the Visa Liberalization Action Plan. Some of them underlined the necessity of sending a message of support to the Moldovan people, who are to enjoy free movement, which is a fundamental principle of the EU.

The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs of the European Parliament on January 9 examined the report on the liberalization of the visa regime for Moldovans, presented by MEP Tanja Fajon. The Committee is to give an answer in February, while the final vote will be given in the European Parliament.
