The leader of the European People’s Party of Moldova Iurie Leanca is the third candidate for the office of President of Moldova registered by the Central Election Commission, IPN reports.

The Commission’s secretary Veaceslav Agrigoroae on September 16 said the CEC received 825 subscription lists with over 20,000 signatures collected in favor of Iurie Leanca in 21 territorial-administrative units. As a result of verification, over 3,000 signatures were declared null, while almost 18,000 signatures were validated. A minimum of 15,000 signatures were needed for registration.

So far the CEC has registered two contenders for President – the leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu and the chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu.
