The reforms initiated at the start of 2009 ensured an economic growth of over 20%. The investments in agriculture were trebled, while the state subsidies for farmers were 7.5 times higher than during the eight years of Communist government. The figures were furnished by Prime Minister Iurie Leanca in a public discussion held in Cimislia on the occasion of one year of the creation of the Pro-European Coalition and of the Government’s investiture, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué of the executive, Cimislia town was chosen to host this event because a politician should not forget where he started from and must be always connected with the people’s needs. “Cimislia is not only my native place. It is a settlement typical for our country through the problems and challenges it faces,” said Iurie Leanca.
The Premier spoke about the relations between Moldova and the European Union and the importance of signing the Association Agreement on June 27. He answered the people’s questions about road safety, especially the deaths caused by road accidents. “By the end of this year, there will be completed 16 projects to rehabilitate national roads with money from the Road Fund. Almost 17,000 km of national and local roads have been repaired since 2009. The Road Fund this year was 1.33 billion lei, up from 241 million lei in 2009,” he stated.
At the end of the public discussion, Iurie Leanca was conferred the title of Citizen of Honor of Cimislia town.
