Iurie Leanca: I’m no one’s project

“I’m no one’s project rather than of my personal understanding and of the understanding of several colleagues of mine that we need to launch such a project,” stated ex-Premier Iurie Leanca, who recently left the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova and announced that he prepares a new political project. In the program “In Depth” on Pro TV channel, the politician stated that there is dissatisfaction inside the PLDM, caused by the creation of an alliance with the PCRM, IPN reports.

“I think I showed first of all correctness in relation to the members and sympathizers of the PLDM. If I had been someone’s instrument, of occult forces, the PLDM wouldn’t have won those 23 seats of MP, forget my immodesty,” said Iurie Leanca.

He also said that the new party is being built and more names of people who are ready to join them will be made public in about a month. As to the relationship with the leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat, Iurie Leanca said that while he was foreign minister, it was good, but it worsened after he became Prime Minister.

Asked about the local elections, Iurie Leanca said any party that manages to assert itself on the political arena, surely thinks about the local elections, as about the parliamentary elections, because the mayoralty of Chisinau is wanted by any political party. “We will take every step at the right time. We now have another objective – to assert ourselves and to build this project. Depending on the results achieved, we will take a decision,” he stated.

On February 26, Iurie Leanca announced that he left the PLDM and will launch a new pro-European political project. One day later, MP Eugen Carpov, who was elected in Parliament on the PLDM’s ticket, left the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group, announcing that he will join the political project prepared by Leanca.
