Iurie Leanca: EU is as open to Moldova as before political crisis

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said the European officials are as open to Moldova as before the political crisis that anticipated the investiture of the new Government. He said he realized this in the meetings that he had during his visit to Brussels, IPN reports.

The Premier made related statement in a press briefing held at the Chisinau airport upon his arrival from Brussels. According to him, the European officials approve of the fact that the Moldovan authorities identified a solution to stabilize the political situation in the country. The EU wants Moldova to continue to implement reforms and the European agenda.

Iurie Leanca said that in Brussels they agreed that the next European Civil Society Forum will take place in Chisinau in October. This will be the first time that a forum of the kind will be held outside the EU. Within the forum, Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Štefan Füle will pay a visit to Chisinau.

In Brussels they also talked about the fact that in ten days the EU will send the report compiled by the monitoring missions that had been in Moldova at the start of this year. Iurie Leanca said this report contains the results achieved by Moldova and the shortcomings in implementing the European agenda.

The officials also agreed that a conference of the agriculture ministers from European countries will take place in Chisinau in autumn. At the start of September, three foreign ministers of the Benelux states will pay a visit to Moldova.

While in Brussels, the Moldovan Premier and Štefan Füle signed two financing agreement. The EU provides €60 million for the justice reform and €30 million for implementing the current bilateral agreements between Moldova and the European Union.
