The leader of the European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM) Iurie Leanca denies having been fielded for the post of Prime Minister, alongside other candidates, by the PDM, saying these are speculations by Democratic heavyweights, IPN reports.
“My name was placed in an exclusive context. On social networking sites, they say that I’m already at the beck and call of Plahotniuc. I discussed with Dumitru Diacov and asked him not to use my name in such speculations, which do nothing but make the situation tenser,” Leanca said after the consultations held on December 15.
The leader of the PPEM added that he will support any candidate that will be proposed by one of the three parties. “We want to contribute to the formation of a pro-European coalition, to do reforms and to ensure the reformation of justice and eradication of corruption. We only want to help this country,” he stated.
In the same connection, Iurie Leanca noted he would accept the post of Prime Minister only if a compromise is reached in the negotiations on the formation of a ruling alliance.
The PDM’s president of honor Dumitru Diacov Tuesday told the press that the party proposed four candidates for premiership to President Nicolae Timofti, namely Marian Lupu, Andrian Candu, Vlad Plahotniuc, and Iurie Leanca.
