The Republic of Moldova risks remaining without the loan of €150 million provided by Romania, the director of the Center for Conflict Prevention and Early Warning Iulian Chifu, adviser to the former President of Romania Traian Basescu, said in the program “European Horizon” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.
“I want to transmit a message to the politicians in Chisinau. If they play the government game there, Romania will know how to penalize. This Romanian loan is now the only source of external financing for the Republic of Moldova,” stated Chifu.
The ex-adviser harshly criticized the Moldovan political class, saying the Government’s dismissal means instability and lack of respect for the country and also a risk that the pro-European course will not be continued. “It’s not normal for two governments to be dismissed during half a year, without these managing to stabilize themselves,” he said.
Earlier, the Prime Minister of Romania Victor Ponta in the same program stated that the Government he heads will refuse to provide financial support to Moldova if a pro-Russian coalition of the left is formed.
