Iulian Chifu: Holding of premiership by Strelet will ensure stability in alliance

Valeriu Strelet is a more suitable candidate for Prime Minister than Maia Sandu because he will ensure stability for the Alliance for European Integration 3 if he holds the premiership, ex-adviser to the President of Romania Iulian Chifu, who now heads the Center for Conflict Preventions and Early Warning, said in the program “European horizons” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.

“For Moldova, the reforms are mandatory and these reforms must be adopted by Parliament. That’s why I would plead for the variant with Strelet rather than that with Maia Sandu, who asserted herself from a tougher position. Strelet is a party man, while Maia Sandu is an image person. The advantage of Maia Sandu is that she represented a hope for society. I think the choice of the first variant is correct. Stability is needed, especially after seven months of stagnation, when nothing was done,” stated Chifu.

He advised the Moldovan politicians to offer a post in the future Cabinet to the European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM). “The PPEM could attract more MPs of the PLDM, PDM and PL, who are dissatisfied with particular things inside their parties. Thus, the alliance could remain without a majority of votes at a certain moment. There is an undistributed post in the future Cabinet – that of deputy prime minister for reintegration. This post should be offered to the PPEM. Thus, the three parties of the alliance would secure three votes. Otherwise, the AEI could be hit from two sides – by the parties of the left and by a pro-European party, of the right. It would be normal for all the parties of the right to be represented in this alliance,” said Chifu.
