The Book of Remembrance, about the victims of the Holocaust, is presented at an exhibition hosted by the Itzik Manger Library. Also here are exhibited literary works and research papers that addresses the subject of the Holocaust, including the events held in the Auschwitz concentration camps. The exhibition can be visited daily, except Saturday, from 11:00 to 17:00.
The exhibition also presents works by local painters on the theme of the Holocaust, as well as a miniature copy of the central figure from the monument to the victims of the Holocaust in Orhei.
Also on display are items found at sites of mass shootings on the current territory of Moldova. In the fall of 1941, there were over 11 thousand prisoners in the Chisinau ghetto.
The Library actively participates in the development of methodological guides for schools, and employees are involved in educational events in schools and universities. The institution has a collection of books, films, methodological guides, including from the Yad Vashem memorial museum in Israel, as well as works by local researchers.
The exhibition is part of a series of events organized during the Holocaust Remembrance Week in Chisinau. Between January 22 and 31, there will be thematic conferences, round tables, viewing and discussions on the screenings of documentary films, essay contests, book presentations, exhibitions of drawings and photographs, information and reading sessions held in educational institutions and libraries, as well trips to the Jewish Ghetto Victims Monument and the Chisinau City History Museum.
