It’s beyond doubt that Vasile Pavlovici is our leader, UCM spokesman
The March 31 decision of the Supreme Court of Justice that upholds the Justice Ministry’s refusal to register Vasile Tarlev as president of the Centrist Union of Moldova (UCM) as legal and well-founded will not affect the electoral race of this party, the chairman of the Central Election Council (CEC) Eugeniu Stirbu said.
“The Supreme Court of Justice’s decision plays no role for us (the CEC– e.n.) and for the election contender of the UCM,” Eugeniu Stirbu has told Info-Prim Neo.
According to him, only the person empowered to sign the party’s documents counts in the relations between the CEC and the political parties. In the case of the UCM, the documents are signed by the party’s vice president Mihai Petrache.
“The party’s electoral symbols and list will also not be affected,” Stirbu said.
Andrei Andres, the spokesman for the UCM, said that the decision of the Supreme Court of Justice would produce no changes in the party. “Its’ beyond any doubt that Vasile Pavlovici (Tarlev – e.n.) is our leader. Anyone can be president, but only one person can be leader,” he said.
Andres does not rule out the possibility that the UCM would appeal the decision to the European Court of Human Rights.
