Italy supports timely signing of Moldova-EU Association Agreement

Deputy Parliament Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc has received assurances that Italy will support the timely signing of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement, the Moldovan Parliament said in a press release. “Both our Members of the European Parliament and of the Italian Parliament are making efforts so that Moldova could sign the Association Agreement with the EU next year”, stated Senator Fabrizio Di Stefano, member of the Moldo-Italian Parliamentary Friendship Group, at a meeting with Vlad Plahotniuc. “Moldova should have clear European prospects. Italy is for the stabilization of the entire South-East Europe, and Moldova's case could be a success story in this region”, stated Vannino Chiti, Vice-President of the Italian Senate. In this context, Vlad Plahotniuc proposed a new idea, suggesting that a tripartite platform for cooperation should be created between the parliaments of Moldova, Italy and Croatia so that our country could borrow the best practices, including in matters of European integration, given that Italy has been Croatia's most active advocate on its course to becoming a EU member in 2013. “We share cultural and historical ties with Italy, which we consider a bridge between Moldova and the European Union”, stated Vlad Plahotniuc. During the meeting with his counterpart from the Italian Senate, Vlad Plahotniuc also discussed about the situation of the Moldovans living or temporarily working in Italy. “We are looking to obtain the recognition of Moldovan education certificates on the Italian labor market, so that the Moldovans could work in their line of profession”, said Vlad Plahotniuc.
