The Italian Republic on June 2 celebrates the 75th anniversary of its founding and, on this occasion, the Embassy of Italy in the Republic of Moldova transmitted online a concert with songs of famous Italian composers sung by artists of the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevich”. Ambassador Lorenzo Tomassoni said that this year the pandemic prevented the Italian National Day from being celebrated by physical presence, but he voiced hope that this will be possible in 2022. “Today, our republic celebrates the 75th anniversary of its founding. Today we celebrate our identity and, together with it, the memory of our identity, IPN reports.
Lorenzo Tomassoni said the current Constitution based on values with which the Italians, as a nation, fully identify themselves and of which they are proud appeared as a result of the referendum of June 2, 1946. “We are a democratic republic founded on labor and in which sovereignty belongs to the people who exercise it in the formula and within the limits of the Constitution. We recognize and guarantee the inviolable human rights and non-derogable obligations of solidary. We believe everyone has equal social dignity and we are all equal before the law, regardless of sex, ethnicity, language, religion, political opinion and personal and social conditions,” stated the ambassador.
This year, through the presidency of G20 and the management of important UN initiatives, Italy committed itself to intensely promote the respect for the human rights and the digital and environmental transitions needed to ensure a sustainable future for the whole world. The ambassador referred especially to the principal role played by Italy within the UN Human Rights Council and also the role played in preparing the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties, among which is Moldova, and within the roman pole of the United Nations where Italy promoted the Food Coalition that became a program of the Food and Agriculture Organization.
“Our country has the honor to host an extraordinarily active and important community of Moldovans who share our values. The Italians and Moldovans are closely united, both in Italy and in Moldova, by cultural, linguistic, economic commercial, friendship and family ties. I earlier made reference to the memory of our identity. This memory includes the phenomenon of migration. The Italians know what emigrating means. We know well what sacrifices this phenomenon implies in the short and medium terms and what enormous mutual benefits can appear in time for the country of destination and the country of origin. By their work and cultural contribution, the emigrants bring prestige three times: to the country of origin, to the country of adoption and to the relations between the two countries,” said Lorenzo Tomassoni.
He also said that on this day, through the universal language of music, the Italians and the Moldovans will together try to share several emotions. In the online event, there were presented songs composed by the famous Italian masters Ennio Morricone, Astor Piazzolla, Nino Rota, Antonio Vivaldi, which were performed by Select Cvartet led by Mihail Agafița, Concertino Accordion Band managed by Eugen Negruța of the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevich”. The performance also involved Show Baller “Repede” headed by Dumitru Tanmoșan.
