The Italian Language Week will take place in Chisinau starting with October 15. The activities organized by the Embassy of Italy in Moldova will start with the rendering of homage to Domenico Modugno, famous singer who sings “Nel blu dipinto di blu”, a guitar concert by Italian artist Vito Nicola Paradiso, who patented a popular method of learning to play the guitar, and a masterclass given by him for all those interested. The events are hosted by the Academy of Music, Theater and Plastic Arts, IPN reports.
There will also be staged meetings with Moldovan writers who have special ties with Italy, online initiatives and a theatrical monologue inspired by Italian writer Primo Levi, survivor of the Holocaust.
Another important event is “Italiano nostro e degli altri” – a meeting at the National Library with Moldovan writers who have special links with Italy: Eugenia Bulat, Claudia Partole, Efim Chicu and Tatiana Beșliu. Prose writer Lilia Bicec (Brescia) and poet Iurie Bojoncă (Venice) will have livestreams.
The initiative “A coffee for a poem” will be implemented as part of the Italian Language Week. Each day on the Facebook page of the Embassy of Italy, there will be published by a poem that those who want could recite in the most original way. All the participants could serve an Espresso coffee in a café chain in Chisinau. Seven famous Moldovans will give the tone of the day as part of this project.
On October 31, the Embassy of Italy in Chisinau, in cooperation with the Swiss Cooperation Office in Moldova, will present the play PRIMO inspired by the book of Primo Levi (July 31, 1919 – April 11, 1987) - one of the leading Italian writers who survived the Holocaust - at the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu”. The play produced under the direction of Giovanni Calò will involve Swedish actor Jacob Olesen. This is an absolute premiere for the Republic of Moldova.
Entrance to all the events is free of charge. More information can be obtained through the email address chisinau.cancelleria@esteri.it or from the Embassy’s Facebook page devoted to the Italian Language Week.
