The Italian Company STR “Engineering consulting” SRL was recently designated, by the Municipal Tender Commission, as the entrepreneur to build the Waste processing Plant of Chisinau municipality. The Italian Company proposes investments of EUR 195 million, performing the works during 2 years, the latter ones shall start right after the project documents are approved by the Municipal Council. The Tender Commission member, municipal counselor Mihai Severovan announced that now it is prepared the visit of some ecologists within the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and Ecologic Inspectorate in order to get familiarized with the technologies proposed by the Italians and the potential disagreements on ecologic norms of these technologies. The Company proposes a waste composting method, which includes separation of organic wastes from the others which cannot be processed, and producing biogas, as result of decomposing. The rest of the wastes, about 50%, are usually buried. The chairman of the Territorial Ecologist Movement Organization, Vladimir Garaba, said previously that a delegation within the local public authorities paid, on 28 May - 4 June, a visit to Italy, where it was familiarized with many projects on refuse processing, proposed to the tender commission. Garaba noted than that the composting method is accepted by the ecologists. The designated investor will be obliged to cooperate with the local cleaning system and refuse transport as well. The plant shall be built near the urban refuse station, situated near the roadway Chisinau-Bubuieci.
